AMATYC 2021 Project ACCCESS Writing Talk

These are the slides from my presentation to the ACCCESS cohorts about writing projects in the classroom.  Click on each slide to see a bigger version.  To re-cap the presentation, I encouraged the newer faculty to use writing in their classes both as assessments that are "google resistant" but also as a way of helping the students deepen their understanding of the material.  I provided some examples, and discussed things about the time involved to have and grade writing assignments.

AMATYC 2021 Escape Room Talk

These are the slides from my escape room talk at the AMATYC 2021 conference.  Basically, on review days before the exam, I set up an escape room for my students with problems that go with the topics on the upcoming exam.
I gave suggestions and lessons learned during the presentation, and the most important slides are below.  (I had music and some other stuff on other slides)  The basic supplies I used are linked below.

The problems the teams worked to try and escape are in PDF form HERE

AMATYC 2021 IGNITE talk: Save Your A** With Assessment.

These are the slides from my IGNITE talk at AMATYC 2021.  The entire series of talks will be posted on the conference webpage.  Clicking on each image will open the full size image.  If you have never seen an IGNITE talk, each speaker gets exactly 20 slides, and they must auto-advance every 15 seconds.  So the talks are lively.

Briefly, my talk was focused on the fact that instructors are most needed on the assessment side.  Especially now that almost everyone has recorded videos, made notes, etc.
